About guterman.com and Jimmy Guterman

In my 10-plus years of advising companies on their Web-publishing efforts, I've never been a fan of the "About" page. Every page on a site should make it clear what the site is "About." If you have to construct an "About" page, I've argued, you're not being clear elsewhere in your site. But much of the e-mail I've received recently, particularly in the wake of Media Unspun's demise, has been full of many of the same questions. It may be more efficient to answer these frequently asked questions in one page. And since I detest the word "about" far less than I'm sick of the acronym "FAQ," here is my rudimentary "About" page.

Who are you?

I'm Jimmy Guterman, a writer, consultant, father, resident of Massachusetts, Dawn Powell fan, Baffler subscriber, and, most recently, an employee of Forrester Research.

What have you done?

Tough question. My resume is here, for those of you who speak Word and Acrobat. My weblog is here.

What else happens on this site?

I've resurrected two (1, 2) of my books, link to some of my clips on the web, and, well, stay tuned for more..

How do I contact you?

Business: jguterman @ forrester.com. Personal: jimmy @ guterman.com. I've added spaces to those email addresses in a vain attempt to cut down on spam.

What else happens on this site?

Less since I've landed a real job. But I've resurrected two (1, 2) of my books, link to some of my clips on the web, and, well, stay tuned for more..

You used to own vineyard.com and run something called The Vineyard Group. Do you have anything to do with vineyards, wine, Vineyard Ministries, the Vineyard Movement, Vineyard Music, the Vineyard International Consortium, or any other organized wine or religious organizations?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
